JOE MAZZARI BIO

Joe Mazzari — guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter — is a battle-hardened East Coast rock veteran now storming Texas. Originally from New England, Joe rose through the explosive 1980s Boston rock scene before touring and recording for three years with Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls / Heartbreakers). He appeared on three Thunders albums and worked with legendary producer Jimmy Miller (Rolling Stones, Traffic, Motörhead) and BBC’s John Peel.

Joe fronted The Daughters (Thunders’ backing band), Two Saints, Jacknife Beat, and the Joe Mazzari Band. A prolific writer with nearly 300 original songs, his sound fuses roots-rock, Delta blues, and raw East Coast raunch — influenced by John Hiatt, Bob Dylan, Link Wray, and Rory Gallagher.

Now Joe is building a serious Texas footprint with The East Coast Thunder — a high-octane pick-up band featuring top San Antonio musicians Rob “Otto” Hankosky & Carlos Gonzales who also play in the respected local band The Walk Offs (guitar, bass, and drums). This lineup delivers blistering riffs, soulful vocals, and thunderous grooves that blend Joe’s legendary East Coast history with pure Texas power.

Upcoming Texas Run: October 15–31, 2026. Joe is actively touring Texas multiple times per year and plans to relocate part-time to the state.

The Live Experience: Loud, authentic, and electrifying — East Coast edge meets Texas swagger.

DIXIE DEADWOOD BIO

Drummer & Backing Vocals – 61 Ghosts
Raw power. Mississippi thunder. Unbreakable groove.

After stumbling upon the documentary Deep Blues and hearing Mississippi hill country blues legends Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside for the first time, Dixie vowed to teach herself to play drums in their raw, hypnotic style. Self-taught and fearless, she joined the acclaimed Hill Country Blues band All Night Long in 2008, laying down the foundation for three authentic albums. In 2013 she became the trusted drummer for Blues Icon Leo “Bud” Welch. For years she toured the world with the legendary octogenarian — from juke joints to major stages across the United States, Europe, and Africa — playing with zero safety net, no setlists, and pure instinct. She is featured in the acclaimed documentary Late Blossom Blues – The Leo “Bud” Welch Documentary (released January 2017) and is permanently honored on Leo’s Mississippi Blues Trail marker as his drummer.  Her dynamic, hard-hitting style continues to be shaped by the masters Sam Carr, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, and Calvin Jackson (Cedric Burnside’s father). Dixie endorses Peridore Custom Sticks and plays TAMA Silverstar drums.

She has earned high praise from the blues world…

“I was happily surprised the first time I heard Dixie play behind Mr. Leo. Dixie has the ear for raw blues. She is very humble about her talent, which makes it that much better.” ~ Cedric Burnside (seven-time Blues Music Award winner for Best Drummer)

“The late, great T-Model Ford really locked into his own sound when he had the late, great Spam backing him up on drums… It seems that Welch has found his ‘Spam’ in the form of the dynamic Ms. Dixie Street… Leo Bud Welch and Dixie Street go together better than peanut butter and jelly.” ~ Blues Blast Magazine (Senior Writer Terry Mullins)

Today Dixie powers 61 Ghosts alongside guitarist and singer-songwriter Joe Mazzari (veteran of the New York Dolls/Heartbreakers scene). Together they forge a visceral, heart-on-the-sleeve sound — Mississippi hill country roots slamming into streetwise rock and outlaw Americana. Her martial-arts-like precision and haunting backing vocals turn every stage into a raw, unforgettable experience.  Armed with her TAMA Silverstar kit and signature Peridore Custom Sticks, Dixie Deadwood doesn’t just play drums — she summons the ghosts of the blues and sets them loose on the world.
